Union Minister of Communications and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad on March 1, 2016 praised Budget 2016-17. He said that with India emerging as a global hub of electronic manufacturing, the proposals relating to the sector were welcome. He added that a lot has improved, but more needed to be done in the communication sector and the government is ready to take all the required measures.
The government on Tuesday said it has got a proposal of ₹1,20,294 crore as of Monday for electronics manufacturing, as compared to ₹11,800 crore it received in June 2014.
“Due to the initiatives taken up in the last Budget, especially duty rationalisation, we have noticed a remarkable acceleration in the field of electronics manufacturing. In this connection, mobile manufacturing presents a very encouraging area,” Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
